Nice lens, wish I could find one that focus correctly – Scott – Los Angeles
I bought the Sigma 50-150 II from Amazon in spite of all the front "focusing" flap on the site, because it seems that the perfect lens for indoor sports shots. Unfortunately, I found meaning in focus. If you want to have a look and try this: Place a newspaper or other printed material on a table and removed, so you shoot in a corner for the paper. The aim of starting something on the page you want to focus and take a photo with the AF. Then turn off the AF andManually focus the same place. For me, the shots were all concentrated manually focus, and AF, which were all blurry …. Instead, lines of text to focus a few inches closer to where I was at the center (ie, "front line). I moved from my Canon 40D to an older Digital Rebel, the same thing happened. Then I took my two Canon Lens and both were spot on. I liked the shape and feel of the Sigma so I decided to order another and try it, hoping it was just a bad. The second copy was exactly the same problem. I tested were a couple of test shots in a gym, I'm going to take some photos indoors, and I noticed the problem of shooting in low light conditions at a distance of several meters, is open only in the 1-m this problem are known so many.
I called Sigma and told me to send them my camera and lens and calibrated. I think that could have sent just the lens for calibration, but the fact that I have two examples of the latest models II andneither worked on my 40D or my Rebel does not have much confidence in me that there is a problem of variability. If you (or receive) a good or anything when things are slightly out of focus, I'm sure you'll like it (I know I would). But for me, if I point to something and expect it that soon, I've created that will be focused. So they are both back, and I bought a used Canon L lens for a few hundred more. I was really hoping to work the Sigma, because it has much to offer, but inEnd does not work for me. I hope you have better luck.
Wonderful lens for the price – James G. Driscoll – Santa Clara, CA United States
While I agree with the report on this "L" quality, I must say that this goal has not disappointed at all. Fast, precise focusing, good contrast and no visible distortion. Even vignetting, I was worried.
Less than $ 600, this is a "wow" slow – is 2.8, pictures of you, where you can get first. And it is so light and small!
A bit heavy – Domingo J. Guerra Garza –
I use this lens for about a month. I have the lens, because I thought I could use it as a sort of all sorts-days-of-lens. Even if the goal is very strong and the goal is not in question, for everyday use it seems a bit 'too heavy. Besides that, I think the goal is very good.
good indoor sport lense – B. A. Brock – texas
I like to photograph my three daughters play basketball. I have the Canon 85/1.8 and it is excellent, but is a bit 'far when you are far from the farm. I have this goal for the apperature 2.8 and liked the program. I also have the Canon 70-200 4L, but have found it a bit 'slow for indoor sports in many gyms.
I used the Sigma for basketball in the summer in high school gyms, and have it be very good. It's a bit 'soft, open collar washingto 150mm. I use the TV setting on the XTi and seek my fastest time of 1 / 125. the camera sets the apperature and most of the time is between 2.8 and 4 It has allowed me to get less movement in the photographs.
The structure and size of the lens is top notch and not white. However, it costs much less than a Canon zoom with a 2.8. I have the Canon and Sigma fact, games, and turned into occasions where the settings the same with any purpose. Couldnot understand the difference in the photographs and nobody else could "I showed them.
I would highly recommend this goal for this situation and I believe you will find the focus to be more precise.
